I’m delighted to have won three awards, in the Beautiful Gardens category of the International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) competition 11.
I won a Finalist Award for this photo, taken just after dawn in July at Bluebell Cottage Gardens, Cheshire. The low light emphsises the rich colour and texture of one of their beautiful herbaceous borders.
A Highly Commended Award was given for this image taken on a frosty morning at Trentham Gardens, Staffordshire – with the seed-heads of the Tom Stuart-Smith designed borders in the Italian Garden, sparkling in the sun.
And I won a Commended Award for my photograph of the famous Dahlia Walk at Biddulph Grange Garden, Staffordshire. Again, it was taken just after dawn, this time in September, with the lens pointing into the sun.
Living in North East Wales, close to the English border, I’m very fortunate to have so many stunning gardens within easy travelling distance (in fact all three gardens are part of the Cheshire’s Gardens of Distinction campaign).
I’m looking forward, very much, to photographing many more of them this year – and I will be posting the photos on this blog and my website. And hopefully entering a some of them into next year’s IGPOTY competition!!
